Purple & Green

The past 3 weeks have consisted of night shifts and sewing during my breaks. During my rota of night shift I tend to feel that all I do is work and sleep. Ive found the antidote.

Having a nice project to work on helps me to feel less sorry for myself. This flower pincushion from the brilliant Anna Maria Horner http://annamariahorner.blogspot.com/ did the trick over the last week. It was small enough to hand sew and carry with me.

As purple and green are my favourite colours I thought Id try them together. The retro fabric used for the petals was thrifted, and works well with the green "roman glass" Kaffe Fassett fabric http://www.kaffefassett.com/patchwork.htm. I've another few projects in mind with this colour combo. By the way the pincushion pattern is from the Spring 2008 edition of Better Homes and Gardens "Quilts and more" mag.

Aren't they so much fun.
I'm really happy to have found your blog. My life's dream is to visit Ireland. My heritage is Irish, Dutch and German.
Looking forward to reading more and seeing more of your beautiful work.
